#WIPJoy is a month long celebration of novels in the process of being written or edited. Today I'll introduce you to my WIP Rise Of The Shadow Lord. It is the first of four novels in the Tales From Crigmis series. Check out the photo at the bottom of the post for the schedule. :)
A century of war.
A deadly curse.
A marriage that could save them all.
DOTTIR OF THE TAJ, Sihara Dayel is torn between duty and happiness. An alliance with the violent steam driven kingdom is her country's last hope against the new Empire of Animalia. Half-man, half-beast, the Animalians are without mercy.
SON OF THE LORD AMBASSADOR, Jaden of House Calstein is hot on the trail of a weapons smuggling ring suspected of selling to the Animalians.
CHILD OF EXILES, Awesome Possum struggles to recover a priceless artifact while protecting others from his curse deep in the unforgiving Outlands.
Enter the Euro-Asian fantasy world of Crigmis filled with nerve-racking battles, political intrigue, and blossoming romance. Where shadows of an ancient darkness linger, destroying one evil may awaken something far more dreadful.
I wrote the first draft in 2010 during NaNoWriMo, but it all started when a friend asked me to share an excerpt from story one of my characters might read. Over the last few years I have been busy writing and revising the first two books in the series.

So the short story was about a child who wanted to know why people kissed. I added three mothers for the child and left the child's gender mostly unknown. As the story progressed, you learned that this was a female humanoid child who was supposed to be emotionless and the mothers were Grays.
Later I took this short story and began to develop it into the novelette it is now. I did research on the Grays and the most common characteristic. I wondered what would hypothetically cause an alien to evolve in this manner and how could it survive?Read more
